Obama Administration to Reverse US Position on Commerical Whaling – What??????

whales-sl-14_smallI received an email from Greenpeace concerning the United States’ position relating to commercial whaling, which I found shocking.  President Obama’s delegation to the International Whaling Commission (IWC) has decided to back a plan that would legalize commercial whaling — including in the Southern Ocean Whale Sanctuary — for the first time since the international ban was passed over 20 years ago.

In 2008, Obama campaigned for a stronger moratorium on whaling. Now, suddenly, the administration has bowed to political pressure at the expense of endangered whale populations worldwide.

Tell President Obama that this is outrageous! Whales are already imperiled by ship strikes, oil and gas development, and climate change. We cannot add legal whaling operations to this list.
Sign Greenpeace’s  petition now: tell President Obama to keep his promise to protect the whales.  I did!  Follow the link below to sign the petition!
